Over 170 people packed into the Hares and Hyenas Bookshop last week to attend the launch of My Agender, a book edited and developed by SSE Fellow Stef Tipping. People on the night had the chance of meeting several of the contributors and get their copy of My Agender personal signed.
My Agender is already proving to be a big hit! Over 150 books have been sold in Melbourne during the first week and My Agender has been receiving positive feedback and reviews. Interstate distribution is currently underway and My Agender will soon be available in bookshops across Australia and internationally as an Ebook on Amazon from next week.
My Agender is a collection of personal stories which explore the interplay between gender and sexuality. This book diversifies and explores the restricting binary of gender through personal storytelling. The stories in this book are written from the heart and explore the pain, strength, and courage it takes to express your authentic self.
Stef, explaining the journey she’s taken, says “Upon commencing SSE in March 2010 My Agender was a very ambitious idea, with very little structure. The SSE program has supported me to turn this dream into a reality, putting it on to bookshelves around Australia”.
My Agender can bought at:
- Hares and Hyenas bookshop: Fitzroy, Melbourne
- Readings: Carlton, Melbourne
- As an eBook on Amazon from 14th February
- Interstate distribution – coming soon!

My Agenda is such an important and courageous book that will speak to the heart of many. It challenges many societal assumptions around gender and sexuality. Stef’s My Agenda project also shows the breadth of approaches that social entrepreneurs will take to make a change in the world. The written word is very powerful. It’s only the beginning of a big journey for Stef.
